PaperSavePro is proud to welcome back guest blogger Sarah Smith, ISV Business Development guru at Fujitsu!
I am one of those "tree hugger" types, so when a company reveals their green initiatives I am totally interested and get all happy inside. My tree hugging days began at the age of 7 when I realized I loved animals and the planet. So you can image 20 years later, when being "green" became cool and trendy, I was as happy as a clam.
If you are one that recognizes your responsibility to the environment and would like to learn a little more about how hardware manufacturers can support these initiatives then read on! I will share a few of the many ways Fujitsu focuses on its environmental responsibility.
Fujitsu Global is very conscientious about the environment. If you would like to research this stuff you can review every focus and initiative on the Fujitsu Global Website.
In this article I’m going to focus on the scanner division of Fujitsu, since we play a specific role when it comes to the PaperSave document management and electronic workflow solution. So, for the peace of mind for all of you fellow tree huggers, this is how Fujitsu Computer Products of America supports our environment:
-
All scanners and scanner parts are RoHS compliant, which means they do not contain 6 specific chemicals typical found in IT hardware that are known to be hazardous to humans and the environment. This directive was developed and adopted in the European Union in 2003 and has made its way around the world as humans have come to realize the importance of sustainability.
-
All scanners are Energy Star Certified.
-
The factories where Fujitsu scanners are manufactured meet the ISO 14001 Standards. This basically means that we have a process and an initiative in place to ensure that we are doing our part to operate in a manner that is environmentally sound. ISO 1401 organizations also commit to continuing to improve all aspects of their manufacturing process, which means that we will never stop trying to improve our impact on the environment.
-
Working to obtain certification stating that we use no ozone depleting chemicals in our products and packing materials. This means that not only are we reducing CO2 emission while manufacturing these products but also that the products do not emit C02 as it sits on the desk or is broken down and recycled.
-
All scanner boxes are made from recycled cardboard and documentation for the scanners is provided in an electronic format, rather than a physical, paper manual.
-
Competitive trade in rebate program: ••Fujitsu offers one of the most comprehensive take-back and environmentally safe recycling services for end-of-life IT equipment. (If you have an old Fujitsu scanner or a competitive product that needs refreshing and are interested in learning more about the program please call our Inside Sales Team at 800.626.4686 or review information on our website. (Note: This program is designed around low volume production type scanners, not desktop scanners.)
There is my short but precise list to help you understand a few of the many ways Fujitsu is doing its part to support our planet. In my opinion this is 1 of a million reasons why you should feel comfortable investing in Fujitsu scanners. I thank you for taking the time to review this information and invite you to email me with any questions or concerns specific to Fujitsu scanners.
